Clocking in records when a shift really started and ended. These actual hours sit next to the planned ones and are what the pay estimate and the labour cost use once the shift is over.
Clock in and out
On Home, the card at the top shows your shift for today (Shift 08:00–16:00).
- Tap Clock In when you start. You can clock in from an hour before the shift begins.
- The card shows Working since 08:02.
- Tap Clock out when you finish. The card shows the hours you worked and Done. Clocked out appears at the bottom with Undo for about 10 seconds: tapped by mistake? Undo, and the shift goes on.
- Finishing more than 15 minutes before the planned end, the app asks first (Planned end 22:00. Clock out now?). Keep working changes nothing.
When there is nothing to start, the card says No shift to start now.
Where the workplace checks your location
Some workplaces check that you clock in and out on site. The first time, the app explains why; then it asks for your location (once, when you tap, never in the background). Only the result and the distance are kept, not where you were.
- Too far away, the clock-in may still work and be marked for your manager, or be refused with the distance (You are 420 m from the workplace…), depending on the workplace.
- Without location access the clock-in is marked as not verified, or refused with a message to allow it in your device settings.
- Your hours there are corrected by your manager, not in My shifts.
On a Wear OS watch
With EVoShift on your phone (Android) and a Wear OS watch paired to it, install EVoShift on the watch from Google Play. It shows the shifts of the account you use on the phone; you never sign in on the watch.
- The app shows your Next shift with a countdown, or Working now with the time left. Tap Clock in or Clock out, confirm, and the watch vibrates when the phone has saved it.
- Swipe to the Next shift tile, or add the Next shift complication to your watch face, to see the countdown at a glance.
- This week lists your shifts from Monday to Sunday.
The watch keeps the last shifts it got, so the countdown works when the phone is away. Clocking in and out goes through the phone, so it needs the phone nearby: without it the watch says so and you clock on the phone. If the phone has no internet, it keeps the time and sends it once it is back online. Notifications from the phone also appear on the watch.
By voice and in the car
Ask your phone's assistant about your shifts and clock in without touching the screen, also while your phone is connected to CarPlay or Android Auto. EVoShift has no car app (cars allow only navigation, music and messaging apps), but the assistant on your phone works there.
- iPhone (Siri): say "When is my next shift in EVoShift", "Do I work tomorrow in EVoShift", "Start work in EVoShift", "Finish work in EVoShift", "Start a break in EVoShift" or "End my break in EVoShift". Siri answers about your shifts without opening the app. To clock in or out, Siri asks you to confirm and your iPhone must be unlocked. Siri does not speak Polish or Ukrainian yet: set Siri to English and say the phrases in English. You also find these actions in the Shortcuts app, in Spotlight and for the Action button.
- Android: long-press the EVoShift icon for Next shift, Tomorrow, Start work, Finish work, Start break and End break. With Google Assistant in English you can also say "Hey Google, clock in on EVoShift" or "Hey Google, open next shift in EVoShift". The app opens, reads the answer out loud, and for clocking waits for you to tap Confirm. Gemini cannot run these actions yet: it only opens EVoShift.
- Where the workplace checks your location, clocking always opens the app to confirm there, so the location can be read.
- The assistant only tells you about your own shifts, never your colleagues'.
On the workplace's tablet
Where the workplace has a shared clock-in tablet, you can clock in and out on it with your own PIN instead of your phone. See Clock-in tablet.
Forgot to clock?
Open the shift in My shifts: under Actual hours enter the real start (From) and end (To) and tap Update hours. Your manager can also correct and accept the hours in the roster.
Accept actual hours (managers)
In Build Roster, tap a shift to see the Planned Time next to the clocked time. Correct it if needed and tap Accept Actual Time. The shift is then repriced with the hours actually worked.
Today at work
The owner's and the manager's Home show Today at work: everyone scheduled today, by start time, with their planned hours, the clock-in and clock-out times so far and where they stand:
- Not started yet: the shift has not begun.
- Late: the shift has started and they have not clocked in.
- Working: clocked in.
- Done: clocked out.
The card lists the first six people; tap Show all for the rest. Tap a person to open that day of the roster.
If someone has not clocked in a while after their shift started, managers get a no-show alert.
To review (managers)
Above Today at work, and in the day of the daily records, To review lists clock times that need a look: clocked in early, clocked out late, longer than planned, very short, outside the area, two people on the tablet moments apart, or no app activity, and unplanned clock-ins. For each:
- Approve as is: the clocked times stand (and count in full where time counts from the plan).
- Adjust to plan: the times become the planned ones.
- Edit times: type the clock-in and clock-out.
- For an unplanned clock-in, Confirm or Reject. Unplanned clock-in: Anna instead of Kasia means Anna clocked in on Kasia's shift: confirming records Anna as who worked it, so the hours and the cost are hers. Unplanned shift means nobody was scheduled: confirming keeps the shift with the clocked times, rejecting removes it.
Every decision is saved with who made it and when.
Clock in without a scheduled shift
Covering for someone, or called in? On Home, tap Clock in without a scheduled shift (or scan the tablet's code). If a colleague has a shift starting now, you are recorded on it; otherwise as an unplanned shift. A manager confirms it.
